At Serendipity Farm Sanctuary, we are always ready to lend a hand to animals in need. Recently, our quarantine shelter reached full capacity as we welcomed seven new residents who faced sudden loss and displacement.
Three mixed-breed goats from Boone, NC, lost their shelter and pasture access after Hurricane Helene tore through the area. Their owners, devastated by the destruction, reached out for help, and we were able to provide a safe haven where these gentle creatures can begin their next chapter with us. In Virginia, another family was also hit hard by Hurricane Helene. The storm destroyed their shelters and rendered their pasture unrecognizable, forcing them to part with their beloved flock of three Shetland sheep and a Shetland-Romney cross ewe. It was heart-wrenching for them to say goodbye, but they found comfort knowing their animals were heading to a place where they would be loved and cared for forever.
Seeing the relief and emotion from these families touched us deeply. As they said their tearful goodbyes, we reassured them that their goats and sheep will always be safe and they are welcome to visit and will receive updates from Serendipity Sanctuary on their adjustment to their new home. We are committed to providing these animals with the love, care, and safety they deserve for the rest of their lives.
For now, all seven of these new friends are being kept in our quarantine shelter to ensure they are healthy and up to date on their vaccines before joining the rest of the herd. We are grateful to be able to offer them this fresh start and look forward to sharing their journey with you.
If you would like to support the care of these animals or the many others we rescue, please consider donating or following our stories as we continue this work. Every bit of help is greatly appreciated here at Serendipity Farm Sanctuary.
